Are YOU a SENIOR or MASTER LEVEL vehicle technician? If so, my client is expanding its UK research and development capability and is looking to appoint an experienced Vehicle Technician to support vehicle development and technical investigation activity. This is a hands-on technical role sitting at the intersection of engineering, aftersales and real-world vehicle performance.

The position would suit a senior or master-level technician who enjoys complex fault-finding, working on development and production vehicles, and supporting engineering teams with structured technical feedback. The role plays a key part in bridging customer-facing technical issues with upstream product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out advanced diagnostics on development and production vehicles
  • Identify root causes across electrical, electronic, software and mechanical systems
  • Support engineering investigations and technical problem-solving activities
  • Assist with vehicle testing, validation and product evaluation programmes
  • Perform vehicle software updates, ECU flashing and system configuration
  • Support benchmarking and engineering development work
  • Liaise with aftersales teams and dealerships to resolve field technical issues
  • Support technical campaigns, service actions and quality improvement activity
  • Collaborate with global R&D and engineering teams across international markets
  • Travel within the UK to support technical investigations and testing where required
  • Produce clear technical reports and feedback for engineering stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working as a Master Technician or Senior Vehicle Technician
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical, electronic and mechanical systems
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and ECU programming
  • Proven technical fault-finding and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional engineering teams
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when required
  • OEM, vehicle development or prototype vehicle experience highly desirable
