Senior Visual Identity Designer / Art Director

Freelance | 8–12 week booking | Up to £450 per day | London (Hybrid)


This creative agency is looking for a Senior Visual Identity Designer / Art Director with strong brand design credentials to join them on a major global rebranding project.


This role is for someone who knows how to shape the core visual idea of a brand — and then build the system that brings it to life everywhere.


From defining the visual language through to building scalable brand frameworks, this person will play a key role in developing a global identity that works across campaigns, social, film, events and beyond.


The opportunity

Working closely with a senior creative team, you’ll help develop and deliver a new visual identity system for a globally recognised brand, from early concept through to rollout.

The project will run in two phases.


Phase 1 – Visual identity concept

You’ll help shape the core design thinking behind the brand, exploring and developing:

  • Distinctive visual territories and brand worlds
  • Typography, colour systems and graphic language
  • Logo design and usage rules
  • Art direction principles for image and film style
  • Layout systems and visual storytelling frameworks


This stage is about ideas as much as execution — defining the design philosophy and creative logic that will underpin the brand.


Phase 2 – System & rollout

Once the identity is defined, you’ll help translate it into a clear, scalable design system used across markets globally.

This includes:

  • Building comprehensive brand guidelines
  • Developing a flexible design toolkit
  • Creating templates and example applications
  • Defining how the identity works across
  • social content
  • campaign creative
  • film and motion
  • events and experiences
  • marketing and internal communications


What they’re looking for:


  • Strong experience creating brand visual identity systems
  • A portfolio showing complete identity work — not just isolated design pieces
  • Excellent typography, layout and craft
  • Ability to translate strategic ideas into coherent visual systems
  • Experience building brand guidelines and scalable frameworks
  • Strong design rigour and attention to detail
  • Confidence presenting work and explaining design thinking
  • Comfortable collaborating within multidisciplinary creative teams


Nice to have

  • Motion or animation experience
  • Experience designing for social-first or content-driven brands
  • Experience working on large or global brand projects

  • Freelance booking: 8–12 weeks initially
  • Day rate: up to £450
  • Location: London
  • Hybrid: up to 3 days per week in the office
