Senior VMware VCF Engineer - South West - Contract - Up to £650 PD (Outside IR35)

Overview

Fuel Recruitment is supporting a leading high-assurance technology organisation that is looking for a Senior VCF Engineer to join its expanding infrastructure engineering team. This role will focus on delivering and operating a secure VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.x private cloud environment. You'll act as the technical lead for deployment, integration and life cycle management across a modern, security-focused private cloud platform. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced VCF specialist looking to work on complex, high-security infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the deployment of VCF 9.x Management and Workload Domains using SDDC Manager, VCF Operations and Cloud Builder. Design and implement advanced NSX networking topologies, including Tier-0/Tier-1 routing, load balancing and DFW micro-segmentation. Configure and optimise the VCF Operations suite, covering monitoring, log insights and automation. Integrate and map storage platforms (eg, NetApp ONTAP) to ensure performance and redundancy. Manage end-to-end life cycle operations for ESXi, vCenter, NSX and Aria components using VCF LCM workflows. Work with internal security and teams to implement secure authentication across the management stack.

Key Skills/Experience

Expert knowledge of VMware VCF (8.x/9.x) including multi-site and multi-cluster architectures. Deep experience with VMware NSX, particularly in security-driven designs and overlay/underlay integration. Strong proficiency across Aria Operations, Aria Operations for Logs and Aria Automation. Background working in UK high-security environments (MOD, Government, or Infrastructure). Proven ability to lead complex private cloud deployments and manage operational environments. Strong understanding of networking, security, automation and virtualised infrastructure technologies.
