We are seeking a talented Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding London team. Renowned for delivering sustainable, cutting-edge engineering solutions, Peter Deer & Associates leads projects across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors throughout the UK.We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer with over 8 years of experience in building services. This role involves leading the mechanical engineering team, managing projects from inception to completion, designing complex mechanical systems, and collaborating closely with clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.Job Title: Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer – Building Services M&E ConsultantLocation: London, UKKey Responsibilities:Mechanical Design: Develop comprehensive mechanical design layouts for high-quality commercial and residential buildings, including HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, and fire protection systems.Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys independently to assess existing systems, collect technical data, and create detailed reports with actionable recommendations.System Expertise: Experience in HVAC, ASHP & GSHP (Heat Pumps), FCUs, MVHR, SWV systems, gas distribution, fire protection, and vertical transportation.Energy Management: Familiarity with BMS and controls, as well as renewable energy systems like Solar PV, biomass, and low-carbon solutions aligned with BREEAM, LEED, and UK building regulations.Client Liaison: Present design proposals and reports clearly and confidently to clients, collaborating with developers, architects, and contractors.Technical Drawings: Use AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar tools for schematic and layout drawings across project stages.Project Management: Partner with project managers and senior engineers to ensure timely, compliant project delivery.Compliance: Ensure designs align with UK regulations and industry standards, including CIBSE guidelines and BSRIA guides.Qualifications:Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, ideally to Master’s level with IEng/CEng accreditation.Experience: Minimum of 8 years in building services mechanical design.Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, BIM modeling, and SAP10 & SAP2012; strong knowledge of UK building regulations.Communication: Excellent skills in presenting technical designs and engaging with clients.Certifications: Relevant industry certifications or membership with CIBSE, IMechE, or similar bodies.Key Skills:Strong problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.Leadership capabilities to manage and mentor team members.Effective communication and presentation skills for client interactions.Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, architects, QS, PM, and developers.Independent work skills coupled with a team-oriented approach.To apply for the position, please send an email to Post@pd-a.co.uk with your CV and portfolio attached ( including examples of projects you’ve designed or contributed to).
