Job Title:Service Designer Rate: £525 (Inside IR35) Duration: 6Months Location: Remote - One day onsite in Manchester per week Clearance: BPSS Stages: 1 Stage Must Have Government Experience Key Responsibilities

Design and map end-to-end services , considering people, processes, policies, data, and technology

Apply user-centred design practices to ensure services meet user needs, including vulnerable users

Work collaboratively with product managers, researchers, content designers, developers, policy teams, and stakeholders

Visualise and communicate complex services using artefacts such as service blueprints, user journeys, ecosystem maps, and process flows

Identify pain points, risks, and opportunities across the service lifecycle

Support teams through Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases

Ensure services meet accessibility, inclusion, and ethical design standards

Contribute to continuous improvement and design maturity within DWP

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Service Designer working on complex digital services

Strong understanding of GDS Service Standard and government digital delivery

Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams

Ability to design services across organisational boundaries

Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills

Experience translating research insights into service design decisions

Confident producing and presenting service design artefacts

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
