Job Title: Service Technician – PVD Coating & AutomationLocation: Hastings, MI — 100% in-house, production-floor basedAbout the Role:As a handson Service Technician at our client in Hastings MI, you'll be the go-to expert in PVD coating, PLC/automation systems, robotics, and camera inspection. You'll keep our production floor running smoothly, minimizing downtime through preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and technical support. No travel required—just boots-on-the-ground work in a supportive, growth-minded environment.Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain PVD/vacuum coating equipment: load/unload, clean, inspect, polish parts
Troubleshoot and program PLCs (AllenBradley ); support related HMIs/SCADA.
Maintain and repair robotic systems: calibrate joints, resolve mechanical/electrical faults.
Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot camera inspection systems.
Perform planned and unplanned maintenance, report issues and track repair metrics.
Collaborate with engineering to implement improvements and reduce downtime.
Train and assist production operators on system use and safety.
Adhere to safety, quality, and 5S standards at all times.
Qualifications:
3+ years in PVD coating operations or vacuum system maintenance.
Experience programming/troubleshooting PLCs (Esp. AllenBradley).
Strong hands-on skills with automation, robotics, pneumatics/hydraulics.
Proven experience with industrial camera/vision inspection systems.
Comfort with electrical circuits (up to 480V AC), schematics, and high-voltage components.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
High school diploma or associate’s degree in electrical/mechanical/automation technology.
Nice-to-Haves:
Robotics framework experience (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, or ABB).
Formal certification in PLCs, robotics, or PVD systems.
Familiarity with continuous improvement tools (e.g., Kaizen, Lean manufacturing).
