Shift Engineer (Electrical) - Data Centre

Are you an Electrical Engineer with a background in critical environments? Our client, a prominent leader in the technical facilities management sector, is seeking Shift Engineers to join a brand-new team supporting a flagship data centre account.
This is an exciting "ground-floor" opportunity to join a major contract expansion. You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining high-availability infrastructure where technical precision and reliability are paramount.
The Role As a Shift Engineer, you will manage all PPM routines and reactive attendance for Building Services and M&E equipment within a high-availability data centre environment. Your duties will include:
Critical Maintenance: Undertaking diagnostic analysis, fault-finding, and repairs on electrical systems, including LV distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, and generators. System Monitoring: Operating BMS and EPMS systems, responding to alarms, and initiating escalation procedures to protect uptime. Plant Management: Supporting HVAC, chilled water systems, and CRAC/CRAH units to ensure environmental stability. Compliance: Managing site records and logbooks, ensuring 100% statutory compliance and "audit-ready" documentation. Safety Leadership: Assuming the role of HV Authorised Person (AP) for the site and working strictly within permit-to-work systems and safe isolations. Continuous Improvement: Making recommendations to improve productivity, service quality, and resilience (N+1, dual-path systems). You We are looking for technically robust engineers from a critical background (Data Centres, Life Sciences, or Manufacturing) rather than a standard commercial or corporate background.
Qualifications: Time-served apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Engineering and 18th Edition (BS 7671) are essential. Technical Skills: Strong competence in diagnosing and repairing complex electrical systems and a working knowledge of mechanical plant. HV Expertise: HV AP status is highly desirable (training and support can be provided for the right candidate). Experience: Previous experience in a 24/7 shift-based, critical environment where redundancy and uptime protection are essential. Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, a solution-focused mindset, and the ability to work effectively within a Continental shift pattern.
