Shift Maintenance Engineer
Location: Skelmersdale
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE, inclusive of shift allowance)
Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts – 6:00am–2:00pm and 2:00pm–10:00pm
Overview:
We are recruiting a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site in Skelmersdale. This role is focused on on-site maintenance within a production environment, working on a range of machinery to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime.
This position would suit an engineer with experience in a manufacturing or production line environment, ideally from a print background (although this is not essential). You will be working in the same workshop daily, carrying out maintenance, repairs, and modifications to machinery where required.
We are looking for someone who is confident working with existing equipment, troubleshooting issues, and improvising practical solutions when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
Modify and improve machinery to maintain efficiency
Support production teams to minimise downtime
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
Equipment on Site Includes:
Conveyors
Printers
Glue stations
Folders and feeders
Wrappers and labellers
Mailing machines
The site operates high-speed, high-accuracy production equipment within a fast-paced environment. Training will be provided where required.
Requirements:
Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and fault finding
Experience within a manufacturing or production environment (essential)
NVQ Level 3 (preferred)
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting
Confident problem solver with a practical, hands-on approach
Experience with milling and lathe work (preferred)
Driving licence preferred but not essential
Occasional travel to the Macclesfield site may be required
Additional Information:
Experience with PLCs or hydraulics is beneficial but not essential

Time and a half Monday–Saturday
Double time on Sundays
