Carmichael UK is recruiting a Site Engineer with strong earthworks experience to support delivery on a major HS2 infrastructure package in Northamptonshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in one of the UK’s largest and most complex civil engineering projects, working as part of an experienced site team on a long-term programme of works.

The Role

You will play a key role in the successful delivery of bulk earthworks and associated civils works, ensuring activities are carried out safely, accurately, and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Setting out and engineering control for bulk earthworks and groundworks

Supporting site management with daily engineering activities

Producing as-built records and QA documentation

Managing subcontractors and ensuring works meet specification

Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

Assisting with permits, temporary works, and site coordination

About You

Proven experience as a Site Engineer on earthworks-heavy civil engineering projects

Background in highways, rail, or large infrastructure schemes

Strong setting out skills using GPS / machine control (Trimble, Leica or similar)

Good understanding of QA processes and engineering documentation

CSCS card essential (SMSTS beneficial)

Proactive, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced site environment
