Job DescriptionSite Manager, Stansted Airport, Airfield Ground Lighting experience, initial 6 month contract
A main contractor is looking for a Site Manager to be based at Stansted Airport for an initial 6 month contract. You will need to have a valid CSCS card and be able to qualify for an Airside pass.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership & CoordinationLead daily site operations for aviation infrastructure or airfield works.
Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure all teams understand the plan of the day.
Coordinate site access, permits-to-work, and compliance with airport operational procedures.
Safety, Compliance & Airfield StandardsEnsure all works comply with safety requirements, CAA/CAP 168 guidelines, airside driving rules, and airport-specific procedures.
Enforce strict adherence to RAMS, health & safety legislation, and site-specific risk controls.
Maintain safe working areas within live airfield or high-security zones.
Operational InterfaceLiaise with Airport Operations, Airfield Control, Engineering, and Contractors to coordinate activities with minimal disruption.
Ensure works align with operational windows (e.g., night possessions, runway closures, stand shutdowns).
Respond to on-site operational issues and adjust plans as needed to maintain safety and efficiency.
Quality Control & Technical OversightInspect works to ensure quality meets design specifications, standards, and commissioning requirements.
Manage QA/QC documentation, as-built records, and site reporting.
Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
Resource & Contractor ManagementSupervise contractors, plant, and materials on-site.
Monitor productivity and ensure efficient use of resources.
Escalate issues with workforce, equipment, or programme to the Project Manager.
Progress Tracking & ReportingMaintain accurate site records, diaries, and permits.
Report progress, risks, and issues to the Project Manager.
Support the delivery of site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
Skills & ExperienceStrong experience in airport, airfield, or critical infrastructure environments.
Knowledge of aviation safety, CAA regulations, and airside operational procedures.
Experience managing site teams and contractors in fast-paced environments.
Ability to read engineering drawings and understand technical specifications (e.g., AGL, civil, electrical).
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Airside pass and ADP/Vehicle permits (or ability to obtain them).
