The Opportunity We are recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to take full responsibility for delivering a £5.3m retail and distribution facility in Newport. The role is with a growing and dynamic design & build contractor, specialising in the delivery of commercial, retail, industrial, and fast-paced fit-out projects across the UK. The business is known for its hands-on approach, ability to deliver programmes efficiently, and strong track record working with major retail and logistics clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high-profile retail-led scheme from site, managing all aspects of the build through to completion. The Role As Site Manager, you will act as the No.1 on site, taking full control of the project and ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on programme, and to a high standard. The project will involve a mix of shell construction and high-quality retail fit-out, requiring strong coordination across multiple trades and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities * Full responsibility for day-to-day site management * Managing subcontractors and site teams across all phases of the build * Overseeing both structural and retail fit-out elements * Driving programme and ensuring key milestones are achieved * Maintaining high standards of health & safety compliance * Managing quality control and ensuring finishing standards are met * Liaising with clients, consultants, and senior management * Coordinating site logistics and sequencing of works Requirements * Proven experience as a Site Manager on retail / commercial projects * Experience delivering fit-out and build projects * Ability to manage projects independently as the lead on site * Strong organisational and leadership skills Essential: * SMSTS * CSCS Card (Manager level ) * First Aid at Work What’s on Offer * 6-month contract on a £5.3m scheme * Competitive day rate * Opportunity to lead a high-profile retail project * Immediate start available * Strong pipeline of future work for the right candidate
