We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established regional civil engineering and highways contractor with decades of experience delivering infrastructure improvements across the South West. The business specialises in highways maintenance, Section 278 works, public realm improvements, drainage, surfacing, and infrastructure upgrades, working closely with local authorities and private sector clients. With a strong reputation for quality delivery and self-performing works, they continue to secure long-term frameworks across the region. Due to ongoing project demand, they are looking to appoint two experienced Site Managers — one covering the BANES / Wiltshire area and one based around Bristol. The Role You will take full responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of highways schemes, managing both direct labour and subcontractors on site. This role requires someone comfortable overseeing self-delivery teams, coordinating works programmes, and maintaining high safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Managing day-to-day site operations on highways schemes Supervising direct labour and subcontract teams Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget Coordinating materials, plant, and workforce Maintaining site documentation and compliance Liaising with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders Driving strong health & safety standards and site culture Requirements Proven experience managing highways schemes Strong background in self-delivery environments SMSTS – Essential Valid CSCS Card Excellent organisational and communication skills What’s on Offer Immediate start available Long-term work (6 months) Ongoing pipeline of secured regional projects Competitive day rate Opportunity to join a respected and growing civil engineering contractor
