Job Description

You will be working with a well-established commercial fit-out contractor with a strong presence across London and the South of England. The business specialises in the delivery of high-quality office and workplace environments, operating as a principal contractor on fast-paced, design-led fit-out schemes. They are known for working with blue-chip clients, maintaining high standards of compliance, and delivering projects safely, on programme and to an exceptional finish.\n\nThe Role – Freelance Site Manager\n\nAn experienced No.1 Freelance Site Manager is required to lead the delivery of a £750k office fit-out project in central Cheltenham.

This is a full site management role, overseeing all day-to-day site activities from strip-out through to handover.\n\nYou will be the primary on-site lead, coordinating subcontractors, managing programme, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring health & safety compliance throughout the build. The project will run for approximately 4–5 months, with potential weekend working depending on programme requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Act as the No.1 Site Manager on site, taking full responsibility for delivery\n\n * \n\n Manage all site activities including strip-out, M&E coordination, partitions, ceilings, finishes and handover\n\n * \n\n Coordinate and manage subcontractors and suppliers\n\n * \n\n Drive programme and ensure key milestones are achieved\n\n * \n\n Ensure works are delivered to a high standard of quality and finish\n\n * \n\n Maintain site health & safety, including RAMS, inductions and toolbox talks\n\n * \n\n Liaise with project management, design teams and stakeholders\n\n * \n\n Manage logistics within a busy city-centre location\n\n * \n\n Maintain accurate site records, reports and progress updates\n\nRequirements\n\n * \n\n Proven experience delivering commercial office fit-out projects\n\n * \n\n Strong background acting as a No.1 Site Manager on fit-out schemes\n\n * \n\n Excellent organisational and communication skills\n\n * \n\n Ability to manage fast-paced programmes and multiple trades\n\n * \n\n Comfortable working in secure and occupied environments\n\nEssential Certifications:\n\n * \n\n SMSTS\n\n * \n\n CSCS\n\n * \n\n First Aid\n\n * \n\n DBS Clearance (must be in place)\n\n * \n\n BPSS Clearance (or ability to obtain quickly – includes right to work checks)\n\nContract Details\n\n * \n\n Freelance role\n\n * \n\n 4–5 month duration\n\n * \n\n Competitive day rate (to be confirmed)\n\n * \n\n Potential weekend work depending on programme
