Site Manager

New Today

Amberley Museum is a working museum dedicated to preserving the industrial heritage of the Southeast, showcasing and bringing to life our rural, transport, industrial and communications history for today’s visitors and for future generations. We have a 41‑acre site in and around a former chalk pit and lime kilns, which now includes historic buildings rescued and relocated from across the Southeast, a working narrow‑gauge railway, an operational historic bus collection, and major electricity and communications exhibitions, together with woodland walks around the site. In addition to maintaining and improving what we have, the museum has ambitious plans for growth. We are therefore looking for a Site Manager to join our small team of employees and work closely with the Museum Director, Trustees, and Volunteers to build something they and we can be really proud of. As Site Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure a safe, secure and well‑maintained Museum site, overseeing maintenance and repair activity, engineering workshops and health and safety right across the Museum site. You’ll also be responsible for leading a small team of employees, together with teams of volunteers. As the “number 2” to our Museum Director, you’ll run the Museum in her absence, and as a member of the management team you’ll play a key role in the overall success of the charity.
