Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to support the delivery of a major grid and HVDC infrastructure project based in Murton, County Durham. This role will take full responsibility for on-site construction delivery, stakeholder coordination, and safety-led execution from project start through to completion.
Your role will include:- Acting as the primary on-site focal point with the end-client and consortium partners
- Leading and managing construction activities from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with programme, budget and quality requirements
- Overseeing all site operations, including site preparation, equipment installation, and supporting infrastructure works
- Providing technical guidance and leadership throughout the construction phase, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, regulations and codes
- Managing contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, supervising works and ensuring adherence to specifications
- Implementing quality control processes and carrying out inspections to maintain high construction standards
- Proactively identifying risks and resolving issues efficiently to minimise disruption
- Coordinating effectively with engineers, designers, consultants and local authorities
- Enforcing strict health, safety and environmental standards and embedding a safety-first culture on site
- Maintaining accurate site records, progress reporting and documentation for all project stakeholders
What you bring to the role:
- 10+ years experience managing large-scale industrial or energy infrastructure construction projects
- Degree-qualified in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (experience with project management software is advantageous)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Project Management certification is desirable
- Proven leadership, organisational and decision-making capability
- Fixed term contract until minimum July 2029
