Site Security Controller – Thales
As the Site Security Manager you are accountable for the daily security operations at the Thales Cheadle UK Site and serve as the Facility Security Controller (FSC). You provide an effective and efficient security service to all Thales businesses on site, ensuring compliance with national, Group and UK security policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Managing coordination and execution of the site security operation in physical, material, document, personnel and information security, ensuring the Facility Security Clearance (FSC) is maintained and acting as the site point of contact for engagements with accreditors.
Implementing security policies and processes in accordance with corporate governance, as defined in the Chorus referential system.
Attending site management meetings and assisting with internal and external audits.
Creating, implementing and maintaining the Site Security Plan (SSP).
Maintaining the site security risk register.
Managing the issuing, storage, mustering and destruction of classified assets.
Providing advice to site management, PSO’s, IAOs and employees on security matters.
Providing advice to Site Security Contacts (SSC).
Ensuring Security Grading Guides (SGG) and Security Aspects Letters (SAL) are applied.
Managing the F1686 process – approval of UK S sub‑contractors or overseas collaboration/sub‑contacts.
Acting as point of contact for incoming and outgoing IVCO notifications, government‑to‑government visit requests and Letter of Intent (LOI) approvals.
Working closely with third‑party service providers for the implementation of the manned guarding contract.
Maintaining Thales site accreditation and/or relevant HMG accreditations.
Communicating information management and security awareness campaigns to all employees and contracted staff.
Liaising with customer/sub‑contractor security organisations to advise on the correct and secure conduct of all contracts.
Interface with appropriate Thales project managers and customer/sub‑contractor counterparts to ensure security aspects of projects are identified and procedures are implemented and complied with.

Supporting Information Asset Owners (IAOs) to identify and, if necessary, treat any perceived or real risk.
Promoting awareness of the latest HMG and company security requirements.
Reporting all suspected security breaches and, if required, conducting thorough investigations with recommendations for appropriate actions.
Providing advice and guidance to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of company, customer and third‑party information and assets.
Acting as Crypto custodian if applicable.
Leading on internal assurance activities and ensuring KPI/metrics are developed, captured and reported within agreed timescales.
Organising and leading local working groups and running security exercise – table‑top and live – using internal and external resources.
Conducting any other security or project task as directed by the Head of UK Security Operations.
About You
Relevant experience in a similar security role or an interest in developing a career in this area.
Knowledge of List X (FSC) and UK MoD cryptographic procedures.
Experience as a Crypto Custodian/Alternate or equivalent certification/qualification in Security.
Strong organisational, communication, presentation and report‑writing skills.
Experience building relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels.
Self‑starter with a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.

Security Clearance
This role will require SC Clearance. If you do not currently hold it, the successful applicant will be required to undergo, achieve and maintain SC Clearance. Eligibility for full SC generally requires residence in the UK for the last five years, though in some circumstances a minimum of three years’ residence may be accepted with additional overseas checks.
