We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Site Services Manager to lead utilities and facility operations that support high-care food production. This is a key leadership role within Engineering, responsible for ensuring reliable operation of refrigeration, steam, compressed air, HVAC, effluent and water systems that enable safe production across batter/breading lines, fryers, ovens, blast chillers and packaging areas.

The Role

As Site Services Manager, you will lead a team of up to 8 engineers, ensuring all site utilities operate efficiently, safely and in compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.

You will play a key role in increasing production efficiency, reducing downtime and driving continuous improvement across site services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the Site Services team, deputising for the Supervisor when required
  • Ensure reliable operation of refrigeration systems, blast chillers and finished goods stores
  • Manage steam systems, hot water supply and compressed air stability
  • Maintain HVAC systems to protect high-risk zoning and prevent contamination
  • Oversee effluent treatment systems and environmental compliance
  • Monitor utilities performance and recommend optimisation improvements
  • Act as Permit to Work Controller (LOTO, hot works, confined space, electrical isolation)
  • Manage contractors across refrigeration, boilers, HVAC and utilities
  • Maintain compliance logs, CMMS records and PM schedules
  • Drive energy monitoring, water efficiency and chemical usage control
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across utilities and asset care
  • Ensure detailed shift handovers and strong cross-department communication
  • Support audit readiness standards at all times
  • You will also take responsibility for energy monitoring, water analysis, cooling tower and condenser validation, chemical stock management and cost-saving initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in site services or utilities within FMCG or added-value meat production
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration, steam, compressed air, HVAC and water systems
  • Supervisory experience leading engineering or utilities teams
  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, BRCGS and food safety compliance
  • Experience managing permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work
  • Strong electrical and mechanical competence
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Positive, proactive mindset with strong communication skills
  • Qualifications (Desirable/Required depending on experience):
  • City & Guilds Level 3 / NVQ or time-served apprenticeship
  • Health & Safety Level 2
  • BOAS (Boiler Operations) or equivalent
  • L8 Legionella Management
  • Ammonia handling
  • IOSH
  • Confined Space & Working at Height
  • MEWP / Forklift
  • COSHH training
