Are you an experienced and dynamicHighways Maintenance Skilled Operative looking for your next position?We are seeking a skilled Highways Maintenance Operative to assist in delivering essential maintenance services across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.This practical, hands-on role includes a range of tasks such as reactive repairs, patching, winter service operations, and responding to emergency callouts.The ideal candidate will hold a valid HGV (Category C) licence, a CPC Driver Qualification Card, a CPCS card for operating mini diggers, and a current NRSWA Operative card.Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Highways Supervisor, you will work collaboratively within your team as a Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative to achieve the best possible commercial outcomes for our projects. You will also play a key role in managing anychallenge processes initiated by JB Rineys clients.Day to day responsibilities for this role of Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative will include:Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance tasks such as pothole repairs, patching, kerbing, drainage works, and minor civilsUndertaking emergency and out-of-hours call-out work on a rota basisParticipating in winter service operations, including salting and snow clearance using HGV gritting vehiclesOperating plant and machinery including mini diggers in accordance with CPCS certificationEnsuring all works are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and safety proceduresSetting out temporary traffic management in line with NRSWA requirementsCompleting required documentation including risk assessments, job records, and vehicle checksMaintaining good communication with supervisors, team members, and members of the publicThe Ideal CandidateTo be successful in the role of Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative will have the following:ESSENTIALValid HGV licence (Category C) and Driver CPC CardNRSWA Operative Card (Units including Signing, Lighting & Guarding; Excavation; and Reinstatement)CPCS Card for mini digger (excavator below 10 tonnes)Previous experience in highways maintenance or civil engineering worksFlexible and willing to participate in a standby rota for emergency and winter maintenanceStrong awareness of Health & Safety and safe site working practicesAbility to carry out physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.DESIRABLETraffic Management (LANTRA) certificationFirst Aid at Work certificateExperience working on contracts within London boroughs or other urban environmentsKnowledge of using handheld digital recording tools or tabletsThe role is based at Wick lane, Bow, London.We would be interested to receive applications from candidates who live in or can commute from some of the following areas, Poplar, Stratford, East Ham, Islington, London, Wanstead, Barking, Greenwich, Woolwich, Walthamstow, Hackney, Chigwell, Tottenham, Enfield, Dagenham, Ilford, Rainham and the surrounding areasAt J B Riney, our people are our company.
