Software Engineering Manager - Backend Systems

Are you an experienced engineering leader with a passion for Back End development and a talent for growing high-performing teams? We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a skilled group of developers working on large-scale data-driven applications used around the world. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical guidance, people management, and project delivery oversight. You'll play a key role in driving Back End services that power real-world mobility and infrastructure use cases.
Your role will involve:
Lead and mentor a team of Back End software engineers, supporting professional growth and career development
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on ownership, innovation, and continuous learning
Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback, and drive performance evaluations
Ensure team wellbeing, resolve conflicts, and promote psychological safety
Work with product managers and cross-functional teams to define requirements, scope, and delivery timelines
Manage priorities, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality Back End systems
Champion agile processes including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
Identify project risks and communicate progress to stakeholders at all levels
Support the team in designing, developing, and testing scalable web services
Review code, influence architectural decisions, and promote engineering best practices
Work closely with architects and senior engineers to evolve the technical roadmap
Encourage a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
We are looking for candidates who have:
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience managing software teams, plus a solid background in Back End development
Strong experience with modern web development stacks (eg LAMP, REST APIs, containerization)
Proven track record of hiring, mentoring, and retaining talented engineers
