Job Description

Lead C&I Solar Electrician

£40,000 – £48,000 DOE

North/North West Manchester

We’re working with a growing commercial solar EPC delivering projects across the UK, and they’re looking to bring in an experienced Lead C&I Solar Electrician to support their expanding installation team. What stands out with this business is how they treat their engineers. It’s run by ex-trades, so they’ve removed a lot of the usual frustrations. Good accommodation, no expense claims, and food allowance in your account before the week starts.

This is a hands-on role working on commercial and industrial rooftop and ground-mounted systems, with a business that is investing heavily in growth and long-term progression.

What you’ll be doing

  • Installing and commissioning commercial and industrial solar PV systems to businesses across the UK.
  • Working on inverters, string wiring, containment and panel installation
  • Carrying out testing, inspection and fault finding
  • Supporting full project delivery from install through to handover
  • Ensuring all work is completed to industry standards and regulations

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience working on commercial solar projects
  • Background with a reputable solar EPC or contractor
  • Strong knowledge of inverters, panel wiring and system installs
  • Experience with testing and commissioning (2391 or similar)
  • Qualified Electrician (NVQ and 18th Edition essential)
  • ECS Gold Card is essential
  • Ability to lead a small team
  • Flexible to travel and work away
  • Over 25 years old with no more than 6 points (for insurance purposes)

What’s on offer

  • £40,000 – £48,000 basic salary (DOE) + Food Allowance paid Mondays (no receipts/claiming expenses back needed)
  • 4 day work week during spring and summer months - 5 day work week in autumn winter
  • Working for a company owned and managed by a leadership team who have worked on the tools within the solar industry and understand the common issues and pain-points of the industry from a tradesman/tradeswoman's point of view
  • Exciting pipeline of solar work with some of the biggest primary contractors and EPC in the country
  • Personal use of company vehicle (within reason)
  • Food allowances paid into bank Monday morning - no messing about with receipts and claiming expenses back!
  • Ongoing training and development within solar and renewables
  • Clear progression as the business continues to grow
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale commercial projects

If you’re an experienced electrician already working in solar, or looking to step into a more project-focused commercial environment, this is a strong opportunity to progress your career and work with a fast-growing EPC.
