Job Description
Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a leading international solar and energy storage EPC contractor committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure across Europe to recruit a Civil Engineer for a UK home-based position.\n\nThis strategically important Civil Engineer role offers a salary between £45,000-£60,000, a performance-related bonus, private healthcare, pension contributions, and flexible home working.\n\nIf you're a Civil Engineer looking to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects within an organisation that champions collaboration, technical excellence, and the energy transition, then submit your CV to apply today.\n\nResponsibilities and duties of the Civil Engineer role\n\nReporting to the Senior Civils Engineer, you will:\n\nDeliver civil and structural designs for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects from early design through to construction\nAssess site conditions and determine appropriate solutions for foundations, piling, earthworks, drainage, and access infrastructure\nReview and interpret technical specifications, employer's requirements, and engineering drawings\nEvaluate site surveys and third-party reports, including geotechnical, flood risk, topographical, and hydrological studies\nDefine scopes of work and technical requirements for civil subcontractors and external consultants\nEnsure all civil works comply with relevant standards, CDM regulations, and internal QHSE policies\nCoordinate civil design inputs with internal engineering disciplines and project teams\nProvide technical support during the construction phase, resolving design and site-related issues\nAct as the primary technical point of contact for civil engineering matters with external partners and consultants\nReview and approve civil and structural designs and engineering reports produced by third parties \n\nProfessional qualifications\n\nWe are looking for someone with:\n\nHNC/HND or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's desirable)\nExperience in renewables, utilities, infrastructure, or a similar engineering environment\nGood knowledge of UK and international engineering standards\nProficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Tekla Tedds and Tekla Structural Designer advantageous\nExperience in civil and foundation design, including piling and earthworks\nAbility to interpret geotechnical, topographical, hydrological, and flood risk reports\nKnowledge of drainage design and surface water management (SuDS desirable)\nFamiliarity with solar PV and battery energy storage projects (desirable)\nUnderstanding of CDM regulations (desirable)Personal skills\n\nThe Civil Engineer role would suit someone who is:\n\nPassionate about decarbonisation and renewable energy infrastructure\nComfortable working across multiple projects, locations, and stakeholders\nAnalytical with strong problem-solving capabilities\nAble to operate effectively in environments with evolving design requirements\nA clear communicator, confident engaging with internal teams, contractors, and clients\nWell-organised with a structured approach to engineering delivery\nCollaborative, proactive, and professionally mindedSalary and benefits of the Civil Engineer role\n\nBasic salary between £45,000 - £60,000, dependent on experience\nDiscretionary annual bonus of up to 12.5%\nEmployer-matched pension contributions up to 6%\nComprehensive private medical insurance (family cover available at additional cost)\nLife assurance at 4x annual salary\n33 days holiday, inclusive of bank holidays\nFlexible, home-based working within the UK INDREN\n\nAstute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
