Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-orientedCommercial Solar Surveyorto support the delivery of commercial and industrial solar PV projects. The role involves carrying out technical site surveys, assessing roof and ground-mounted solar opportunities, and providing accurate data to support system design, pricing, and project delivery.The successful candidate will work closely with sales, design, and installation teams to ensure projects are technically viable, compliant, and delivered efficiently.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct on-site surveys for commercial and industrial solar PV installationsAssess roof structures (flat, pitched, metal, asbestos awareness), ground conditions, and electrical infrastructureMeasure and record roof dimensions, orientations, shading, and access constraintsEvaluate existing electrical systems, including supply capacity and connection pointsIdentify Health & Safety risks and site-specific hazardsCapture accurate photos, drawings, and survey dataProduce clear and detailed survey reports for design and engineering teamsLiaise with clients, landlords, and site managers during surveysSupport DNO application data gathering where requiredEnsure surveys comply with relevant standards, regulations, and company proceduresSkills & ExperienceEssential:Previous experience surveying commercial solar PV projectsStrong understanding of solar PV systems and componentsAbility to interpret structural and electrical site conditionsGood working knowledge of Health & Safety requirementsConfident using survey tools, tablets, and reporting softwareFull UK driving licenceExcellent attention to detail and communication skillsDesirable:Knowledge of UK building regulations and structural considerationsExperience with DNO processes and grid connection requirementsUnderstanding of MCS standards and commercial complianceExperience working with design software (e.g. AutoCAD, PV*Sol, OpenSolar)CSCS card (or willingness to obtain)QualificationsElectrical, engineering, construction, or renewable energy background (preferred)Health & Safety training (e.g. IOSH, SSSTS desirable)Working at Height awareness (desirable)Personal AttributesProfessional and customer-focusedMethodical and organised approach to workComfortable working independently and managing site visitsProactive problem-solverFlexible with travel and occasional overnight staysJBRP1_UKTJ
