Job Title: Solicitor – Contentious Probate


Location: Greenwich (Hybrid working options)


Salary: £55,000–£80,000 D.O.E (3–5 years PQE)


Job Type: Permanent / Full-time


The Firm

A specialist law firm with an established litigation practice and a dedicated Contentious Probate department, acting on a wide range of complex probate, trust, and estate disputes. The firm is committed to providing high quality legal advice in accordance with Law Society, Lexcel, and Solicitors Regulation Authority standards.


The Role

We are seeking a Solicitor with experience in contentious probate and related litigation matters to join our team. The role is suited to a solicitor who is confident managing probate and trust disputes and who has a genuine interest in continuing to develop their expertise in this area.

You will manage your own caseload with appropriate support, advising clients from instruction through to resolution while working in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures. The role will also involve contributing to the ongoing development and profile of the department, including supporting client development and marketing initiatives where appropriate.


Responsibilities

Advising and representing clients in contentious probate and related litigation matters, including:

  • Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims, acting for both Claimants and Defendants
  • Probate disputes involving allegations of testamentary capacity, undue influence, and forgery
  • Trust disputes concerning the validity and construction of trust documents
  • Allegations of fraud
  • Acting for executors and trustees, including acting in a neutral capacity where required
  • Proprietary estoppel and constructive trust claims
  • Drafting pleadings, settlement agreements, and related documentation
  • Managing matters from commencement through to completion with minimal supervision
  • Accurate time recording, billing, and ensuring recovery of fees in line with agreed financial targets
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, experts, and internal teams
  • Using the firm’s case management system to create and maintain files and documentation
  • Contributing to marketing, networking, and client development activities


Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ PQE with demonstrable experience in contentious probate and related litigation
  • Admitted to the Roll of Solicitors with a current practising certificate
  • Strong technical knowledge of probate, trust, and estate disputes
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and work to deadlines
  • Experience of working in accordance with Law Society, Lexcel, and SRA standards
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and client-facing skills
