INIS, a busy canal-side kitchen in East London known for honest Irish and British cooking, is looking for a talented Sous Chef who takes pride in proper food and thrives in a fast-paced service. Were looking for a strong Sous Chef to join the kitchen at INIS . Set on the canal towpath on Fish Island, INIS (meaning Island in Irish) was created out of a love for the local area and the community around it. We serve a seasonal menu of Irish and British food that celebrates produce, provenance and simplicity. INIS is known for honest, satisfying food done properly . Our kitchen is energetic and busy, where quality and pace matter equally . As Sous Chef, youll work closely with the Head Chef to run a tight, organised kitchen that delivers consistently excellent food , even during the busiest services. Youll help lead the team on the pass, maintain high standards, and ensure every plate leaving the kitchen is something youre proud of. This role suits someone who loves proper cooking, enjoys working in a small close-knit team, and thrives in a fast-moving London kitchen. What Youll Be Doing Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen Leading services and confidently managing the pass during busy shifts Training and developing the kitchen team, helping junior chefs improve their craft Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency Assisting with prep planning, ordering and stock control Ensuring food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation are always on point Helping build a positive, focused kitchen culture where everyone works together What Were Looking For Experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous ready to step up A genuine love for seasonal produce, bold flavours and proper cooking Confident leadership and the ability to keep a team motivated during service Solid knowledge of food safety, stock control and kitchen organisation Calm under pressure with a strong sense of pride in your work A team player who values good communication between kitchen and floor teams What To Expect Competitive salary (inclusive of tronc) , paid on the last Thursday of each month A mix of daytime and evening shifts A small, close-knit team environment 50% staff discount Staff meals and unlimited hot drinks during shifts Cost price wine Access to a shared workspace with meeting rooms, wellness room and showers Pension scheme via NEST If youre a Sous Chef who takes pride in proper cooking and enjoys working in a tight, focused team, wed love to hear from you.
