Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Openshaw, Manchester Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm Contract: Full Time Start Date: ASAP
A supportive and inclusive Primary School in Openshaw is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This role involves working closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning and thrive within a structured school environment.
The school has a strong focus on inclusion and provides a nurturing setting where pupils with additional needs are supported both academically and emotionally.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs
Assist in implementing individual education and behaviour support plans
Support pupils with social, emotional, and communication development
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO
Help create a calm, consistent and positive learning environment
Encourage independence and confidence in pupils
We're Looking For Someone Who:
Has experience supporting children with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs desirable)
Is patient, resilient and adaptable
Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Demonstrates effective behaviour management strategies
Works well as part of a team
