Are you a skilled Biomedical Scientist with a passion for haematology? Our client is a dynamic diagnostics company transforming private blood testing across the UK. They’re looking for an experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Haematology) to join their growing team and make a real impact.


What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll be a key player in a busy haematology service, applying your expertise to deliver accurate results and maintain the highest standards. You’ll:

  • Perform and interpret blood films, morphology, and coagulation testing.
  • Validate Haematology results independently, escalating clinical concerns when needed.
  • Lead technical management of haematology equipment, troubleshoot issues, and liaise with engineers.
  • Oversee IQC, EQA, calibrations, and method verifications.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, including training and competency assessments.
  • Maintain SOPs and ensure compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards.
  • Participate in audits, investigations, and CAPAs.
  • Support other lab areas and join the weekend/out-of-hours rota when required.


About You

  • BSc in Biomedical Science with HCPC registration.
  • Minimum 6 years post-registration experience in Haematology within an accredited lab.
  • Strong experience in blood film review, morphology, and coagulation.
  • Confident working independently with excellent clinical judgment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Haematology, coagulation, and UKAS ISO 15189 standards.
  • Excellent organisational, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • IT proficient (MS Office, LIMS, QMS).
