The role will work closely with residents, community groups, partner organisations and internal council services to support neighbourhood-based projects. The role focuses on understanding local challenges and opportunities across Thurrock, strengthening community participation, and helping to identify and deliver improvements that enhance quality of life in local neighbourhoods. The post-holder will specifically support the implementation of a strategic approach to community engagement, by facilitating accessible and meaningful interactions between the council and residents across all communities across different Neighbourhood projects across Thurrock. They will help ensure that residents have opportunities to voice their views, participate in council initiatives, and contribute to shaping local services and policies. The post-holder will sit within the Community Development Team and also work closely with the Communications Team, to ensure a joined up ‘one council’ approach to our communications and engagement plans for Neighbourhoods. The Comms and Engagement Officer will play a key part in ensuring that engagement activities reflect the needs and diversity of Thurrock's population, supporting the council's wider objectives around inclusion, accessibility, and social cohesion.
