Primary Objective Of The JobThe Shop Manager holds overall responsibility for their shop, taking ownership and the initiative to drive performance through managing KPIs. You will ensure customers have the best shopping experience, develop the team, and represent White Stuff’s presence in the local community. What You’ll Be DoingYou’ll report to your Cluster Manager and sit within our Retail team. Customer Experience
Train, drive, and coach the team to deliver an amazing in‑store customer experience in line with our pillars (Be Friendly, Be Valuable, Be Inspiring) throughout the customer journey. Ensure the team meets customer needs through multichannel shopping and endless aisle orders. Ensure customers are engaged with our brand through email newsletter sign‑ups, purchase tagging, and e‑receipts.
Product Presentation and Visual Standards
Evaluate floor layout and sales trends regularly, taking action to ensure the shop floor responds to commercial opportunity. Ensure the team understands the features of our products and can explain these to customers to support styling and purchase decisions. Ensure product and shop standards are excellent and maintained at all times. Implement brand VM standards and layouts within the shop and make placement decisions to best suit shop, market and customer. Create a commercial environment where the team consistently evaluates the floor layout and KPIs and takes appropriate action. Evaluate shop product package and feed back to Area Manager any commercial opportunities. Ensure stock levels are optimised for sales opportunities and liaise with Merchandising to influence.
Commercial Management
Understand commercial opportunities for your shop and maximise these to increase sales; coach the team to also understand and implement these opportunities. Ensure that the shop is working within the budgets set. Lead the coordination of promotions, incentives, and key trading weeks.
People Management and Development
Use learning and development and operational tools to develop the team’s knowledge and skillset, helping them reach their potential. Create a positive team atmosphere focused on delivering results. Lead team briefs to ensure the team are equipped with knowledge and motivation to achieve targets. Ensure staff planning is effective to place the right people in the right places at the right times. Play a key part in setting team objectives so they work together to achieve goals. Attract, recruit and retain high‑calibre team members. Engage with succession planning to grow our own talent. Actively seek local opportunities that could benefit the shop, such as events. Ensure the team receives regular praise and feedback to support engagement and continuous development. Lead annual and interim reviews for the team, monitoring objectives throughout the year.
Shop Operations
Lead efficient and accurate delivery and replenishment processes. Play a key role in organising stock‑take and ensuring accurate reconciliation. Ensure that ship‑from‑store and click‑and‑collect processes are managed effectively by the team. Act as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Lead health and safety processes within the shop and ensure team compliance. Develop professional relationships with other teams and business areas.
Doing Good Stuff
Live our values, ensuring they are evident in the shop. Maintain awareness of our charity partner and support related events or promotional activities. Understand our approach to ethical sourcing and environmental impact to explain this to customers and the team.
