Job description
Our client is looking for a hands‑on, proactive Stores Manager to lead their Stores team and ensure materials flow smoothly to meet production needs.
The Role
As Stores Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership and overall performance of the Stores department. You’ll manage the team, oversee all goods‑in and stock control processes, and ensure materials are delivered accurately and on time to the shopfloor.
This is a key operational role where you’ll drive improvements, maintain system accuracy, and ensure the department supports a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading, motivating, and developing the Stores team.
* Ensuring efficient goods‑in processes and accurate stock recording.
* Managing stock levels through cycle counts, investigations, and system discipline.
* Overseeing timely and accurate material issuing to production.
* Working closely with Production to support build schedules and urgent requirements.
* Coordinating with Machine Shop and Wood Shop to track internally manufactured parts.
* Liaising with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve delivery issues and shortages.
* Ensuring all Stores activities meet company procedures and safety standards.
What You’ll Bring
* Experience in a Stores, Warehouse, or Stock Control leadership role within manufacturing, engineering, automotive, or similar environments.
* Strong organisational and people‑management skills.
* Good knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Sage experience preferred).
* High attention to detail and commitment to stock accuracy.
* Confident communication style with the ability to work across departments.
* Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, production‑driven environment.
