This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering our business continuity and organisational resilience work, embedding professional standards across the Environment Agency.This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering our business continuity and organisational resilience work, embedding professional standards across the Environment Agency.Your contribution will ensure we can continue to operate whatever disruption we face—whether that’s a pandemic, a power outage, or a cyber incident.You’ll be part of a close-knit and diverse team, working with senior leaders and government to deliver priorities that matter.This is a chance to influence strategy, strengthen resilience, and make a real impact on how we protect essential services in a changing world.You will:Work with the team to ensure that business continuity is embraced as part of the organisation’s culture.Provide support to teams to make sure business continuity plans and response playbooks are developed, reviewed and tested to achieve an effective Business Continuity Management System.Maintain an awareness of national business continuity risks, and work closely with internal stakeholders to assess and analyse data, share information and raise awareness of emerging risks to support effective mitigation and planning.Support the design, planning and delivery of workshops, training, exercises and presentations to a range of stakeholders on business continuity and resilience planning.Develop and deliver effective communications, including publication of standard documents such as process documents and plans.Develop and maintain key data and information to track delivery and report progress to stakeholders.Maintain awareness of relevant standards and guidance, such as BCI and government guidance, to assess compliance and support a continual process of improvement and development.The teamYou will be part of a team of advisers in the Organisational Resilience Team. We’re a national team within Strategy, Transformation & Assurance.You’ll work with people across the business, providing leadership, oversight and advice for business continuity and organisational resilience.We’re a very welcoming team that manages a diverse range of work. We work closely with Defra and wider government, giving you the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience in this role.Experience/skills RequiredProven experience in emergency planning, incident management or business continuity is essential, including hands-on development and delivery.An understanding of the BCI Good Practice Guidelines.Professional certification in business continuity is highly desirable – such as CBCI (Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute)The role requires a strategic thinker who can appreciate the complexity of our organisation and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.You’ll need to have a good understanding of the internal and external influences that may impact our organisational resilience.You will be a role model for business continuity, fostering a positive culture and promoting good behaviours.Contact and additional informationAs part of a national team the location is flexible.
