Job Description

About the Firm

Our client is a leading international law firm renowned for handling complex, high-value matters across multiple jurisdictions. With a commitment to innovation and client service excellence, the firm is expanding its Legal Project Management (LPM) function to deliver greater efficiency, transparency, and value to its clients.

The Role

As a Legal Project Manager, you will work closely with Partners, Associates, and Business Services teams to scope, plan, and manage large-scale legal matters from initiation through to completion. This is a specialist LPM position — not a generic project management role — requiring close integration with legal teams to ensure successful, cost-effective delivery for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with legal teams to define scope, deliverables, budgets, and timelines for client matters.
  • Track and monitor progress against plans, proactively managing risks, dependencies, and scope changes.
  • Prepare and maintain financial tracking reports and dashboards, ensuring accurate budget control and timely client updates.
  • Act as the bridge between legal teams, clients, and business services, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Identify and deliver process improvements, embedding best practice project management into legal workflows.
  • Support client pitches and RFPs with matter planning expertise, pricing input, and delivery proposals.
  • Conduct post-matter reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Legal Project Manager or in a project management role within professional services.
  • Big Four experience (or equivalent top-tier consulting/professional services background) strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the legal matter lifecycle and the challenges of delivering projects in a law firm or regulated professional services environment.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking for client engagements.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at Partner and client level.
  • Familiarity with LPM tools and methodologies such as matter mapping, WBS creation, and milestone tracking.
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple concurrent matters under tight deadlines.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or LPM certifications) highly desirable.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary up to £80,000 plus competitive benefits.
  • The opportunity to work with some of the most respected lawyers in the City on high-profile, cross-border matters.
  • Hybrid working model.
  • Ongoing professional development and support for industry-recognised certifications
