Design Engineer – Glasgow Office

Our client is a dynamic, forward-thinking civil and structural engineering consultancy renowned for delivering innovative, sustainable design solutions across commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. With offices located throughout the UK and Ireland, they are committed to engineering excellence, technical innovation, and outstanding client service.
To support continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Design Engineer to join their expanding structural engineering team in Glasgow.
Role Overview
As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the structural analysis and design of a wide variety of building and civil engineering projects. Working closely with senior engineers, you will be responsible for producing high-quality design work, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects from initial concept through to construction.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a driven and technically skilled individual based in Scotland with the following attributes:
Qualifications & Experience
*
Honours degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
*
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a design office environment.
*
Ambition and commitment to achieving chartership with ICE or IStructE.
Technical Skills
*
Strong understanding of engineering principles and relevant codes of practice.
*
Experience designing in concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
*
Proficient in key software packages such as CADS, Tekla, SCIA, STRAP, TEDDS, Fastrack, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
*
Solid IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
*
Good working knowledge of UK design codes and industry standards.
Professional Attributes
*
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively to tight deadlines.
*
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*
Understanding of the full project delivery process, including familiarity with NEC Contracts.
*
Demonstrated commitment to CPD and maintaining professional competence.
*
Proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
