STRUCTURAL SURVEYOR – RESIDENTIAL CONDITION SURVEYS

We’re recruiting on behalf of an exciting and rapidly growing consultancy in Manchester, seeking an experienced Structural Surveyor to lead on residential & commercial condition surveys. This opportunity comes with genuine long-term growth prospects - including the opportunity to secure a stake in the business through shares or equity as it develops


About the Role:

You’ll be carrying out structural inspections and condition surveys of residential properties across the Northwest, diagnosing structural defects, and preparing detailed, RICS-compliant reports. The role also involves supporting clients and supporting clients and loss adjusters with building insurance claims related to subsidence, fire, or storm damage - including causation reporting, remediation proposals, and expert technical input where required - while contributing your expertise to help grow and shape the service offering.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct structural condition surveys and defect diagnostics on residential properties.
  • Prepare comprehensive digital reports, often completed live on-site.
  • Provide expert recommendations and specifications for remedial works.
  • Support insurance claim assessments and liaise with loss adjusters on subsidence, storm, and fire damage cases.
  • Report directly to senior management, providing progress updates.
  • Contribute ideas and expertise to aid in the strategic growth of the business.


Skills & Experience:

  • Ideally Chartered or working towards RICS, IStructE, MICE, or IEng status — preferred but not essential.
  • Strong post-graduate experience in structural surveying, particularly in residential property.
  • Knowledge of traditional and non-traditional construction methods.
  • Experience with historic buildings is advantageous.
  • Confident IT skills; experience with digital reporting tools such as GoReport or other survey reporting platforms is advantageous (training provided).
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
