Supplier Development Manager

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage (relocation assistance may be available)

Working Pattern: Hybrid, 2-3 days per week on-site with flexible hours

Join a high-technology defence organisation that manufactures weapons systems. This role focuses on ensuring effective supplier performance, capability and risk management across all programmes, managing both mature and new technologies in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve supplier performance in delivery and quality using appropriate tools and lean methodologies
• Conduct capacity audits to identify bottlenecks, yield, resources and sub-tier mapping to form an industrial view of suppliers
• Manage a portfolio of suppliers, report performance and manage supply chain risks
• Apply problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC to develop and implement root cause analysis and improvement plans

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Supply Chain or equivalent experience in supply chain management or supplier development within aerospace, defence or manufacturing environments
• You must have shop-floor exposure to machining, electronics, and castings.
• Proven experience managing a portfolio of suppliers on a day-to-day basis and reporting into a designated project regarding performance and supply chain risks
• Understanding of techniques such as DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) to develop and implement root cause analysis and improvement plans within the supply chain
• Ability to lead improvements in supplier performance and implement risk mitigation strategies
• Willingness to travel internationally as required
