G&P are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to support a leading UK automotive OEM facility in Surrey. This contract role sits at the heart of supplier performance management, supporting new product introductions while ensuring production flow and zero-defect delivery across a high-performance supply chain.

Initial 36 month contract, with a strong potential for ongoing extension

The Supplier Quality Engineer will take ownership of supplier quality performance, driving containment, corrective actions, and continuous improvement across the supply base. You will work closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and third-party inspection teams to proactively manage risks, resolve issues, and ensure robust quality controls are in place.
Key deliverables will include:
CSL inspection plans with entry/exit criteria
Quality reports and trend analysis
Chargeback documentation and supplier accountability tracking
Full documentation of daily inspection activities
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage supplier quality concerns, monitor performance (PPM, NCRs), and implement CSL1/CSL2 controls to maintain production flow
Develop and implement containment, inspection plans, and corrective actions based on root cause analysis
Lead structured problem-solving using 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone techniques
Oversee third-party inspections, sorting activities, and manage supplier chargebacks
Escalate supplier risks, support mitigation plans, and produce regular quality reports on trends and CSL status
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a supplier-facing quality role or similar within Automotive or Aerospace.
Proficient in quality tools
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and use metrology tools
Strong data analysis skills using Histograms, Trend Charts, PPM, and Defect Rates
Familiarity with ERP, QMS, and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Desirable:
Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quality, or Manufacturing
IATF 16949 Certification
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
