Supplier Quality Engineer Overview:

Be supplier-facing with regular site visits (25–50% travel) to improve capabilityThis Supplier Quality Engineer role is based in Bournemouth and sits within a regulated, specification-driven manufacturing environment where supplier performance directly impacts delivery and product integrity. Reporting into the quality function, the Supplier Quality Engineer will drive supplier development activity, manage supplier non-conformance from containment through to closure, and ensure quality requirements are applied consistently throughout the supply chain. This Supplier Quality Engineer position is hands-on and supplier-facing, with regular visits to supplier sites to audit systems, review processes, and improve performance against quality and delivery targets.
Day-to-day responsibilities of a Supplier Quality Engineer
Improve supplier quality performance by driving structured improvement plans and capability development
Manage supplier non-conformance, ensuring rapid containment, thorough investigation, and effective corrective actions
Lead supplier approval activity including onboarding checks, periodic reviews and supplier audits
Ensure quality requirements are flowed down clearly and consistently to suppliers across the supply chain
Support new and existing suppliers with quality assurance activity, including inspections and change control where required
Visit supplier sites to review quality systems and manufacturing processes and drive practical improvements
Track, analyse and report supplier issues, trends and corrective action status to support decision-making
Maintain supplier quality standards and documentation, updating requirements where needed
Partner with internal teams to remove supplier-related constraints impacting production and delivery
Support supplier performance reviews and drive actions to improve quality and delivery outcomesWhat they’re looking for - Supplier Quality Engineer
Previous experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or in a supplier quality/supplier development role in manufacturing
Proven experience driving supplier root cause and corrective actions through to closure
Strong understanding of Quality Assurance tools and structured problem-solving
Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
Strong supplier relationship management and stakeholder influencing skills
Methodical approach, strong attention to detail, and confidence working under pressure
Able to plan workload to priorities and timelines and keep actions moving without chasing
Comfortable with travel as part of the Supplier Quality Engineer role (25–50%)Desirable - Supplier Quality Engineer
