Supplier Quality Engineer

Due to continued growth, I am now looking to speak with experienced candidates for a Supplier Quality Engineer position based at their Wimborne site. This Supplier Quality Engineer role will play a key part in driving supplier performance, ensuring quality compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across the supply chain.
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for improving supplier quality performance, leading root cause investigations, and developing supplier capability to meet stringent aerospace standards. This Supplier Quality Engineer role offers a great opportunity to work within a highly technical and collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities for this Supplier Quality Engineer role include:
Driving supplier quality improvements through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions
Establishing and maintaining supplier approval systems and conducting supplier audits
Ensuring suppliers adhere to Quality Management System requirements and relevant specifications
Evaluating and selecting suppliers based on quality, delivery, and performance criteria
Developing and implementing supplier quality control and evaluation processes
Conducting supplier assessments to promote standardisation, waste reduction, and continuous improvement
Monitoring and improving supply chain KPIs such as DPPM and Cost of Poor Quality
Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve quality issues effectively
Managing supplier performance metrics, certification programmes, and ongoing assessments
Supporting supplier development through training and quality system guidance
Ensuring compliance through audits, source inspections, First Article Inspection (FAI), and change control processes
Working closely with engineering and procurement teams to ensure contractual and technical requirements are metTo be successful in this Supplier Quality Engineer position, you should have:
Previous experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or within supplier development, ideally in a mechanical or aerospace environment
Proven ability to drive root cause analysis with suppliers and implement corrective actions
Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards such as AS/EN9100 and NADCAP (advantageous)
Good technical engineering knowledge with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience working within supply chain or manufacturing environments (3–5 years preferred)
A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
