Job Purpose Support Workers provide emotional and practical support to individuals and their families who may struggle to live independently due to health conditions, emotional challenges, or social difficulties.
Clients may include individuals with:
Physical, mental, or learning disabilities
Drug or alcohol dependency
Vulnerable children or adults
Young offenders
Individuals experiencing relationship or social difficulties
You may support people with short-term needs or long-term/lifelong support requirements . Work may take place within the community, supported housing, or home-based settings , including roles focused on individuals with mental health needs.
A genuine caring nature , strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively are essential. Support Workers often collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams , so clear communication and accurate information sharing are crucial.

Main Responsibilities Promote independence, life skills, and informed decision-making
Treat service users with dignity and respect
Support service users in making informed choices
Empower individuals to reach their full potential
Assist service users with personal hygiene and appearance when required
Maintain a safe and supportive environment
Report accidents, incidents, and injuries appropriately
Build effective working relationships with service users and colleagues
Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Essential Requirements Good level of literacy
Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Strong organisational skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
A non-discriminatory and inclusive approach
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or relevant qualification)
Minimum of 18 months relevant experience
Compliance Requirements Successful candidates must:
Pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) background check
