About the Client Sarah 31 years old, who I had the upmost pleasure in meeting, lives independently along with her small team of dedicated PAs who support and champion her in all her day-to-day life activities. Sarah loves dogs and recently took on a new puppy. The new addition requires a lot of input from both Sarah and her PAs. Sarah is a wonderful artist. She loves working on her pieces at home in her art studio, or exploring art in the numerous, glorious galleries across London. 5 years ago, Sarah sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury, resulting in cognitive impairment, severe fatigue and short-term memory loss. There will be more detailed information given on application. Sarah loves seeing her friends and her parents who live locally will pop around regularly or meet out for lunch or dinner.
The Role at a Glance Sarah’s brain injury is complex. Her abilities vary from day to day: on some days she has plenty of energy and enjoys getting out and about, walking her new puppy, creating artwork, preparing meals, and managing household tasks such as organising her Google calendar, coordinating appointments with her rehabilitation therapy team, and planning her annual trips abroad (typically two to three weeks at a time, therefore a valid passport with no travel restrictions is essential); on other days, extreme fatigue can make even the simplest activities more challenging, requiring a calm, flexible and supportive approach. On days when her energy is low, achievements like getting dressed or popping across the road for a coffee are celebrated milestones. Your role is to help Sarah reach these goals and, when she needs to rest, and ensure everything runs smoothly. Due to short-term memory loss, Sarah will need gentle reminders about meals, medication, and walking/training her dog. This position involves working days and nights from Friday through until Monday morning. While overnight support is rarely required, your presence provides reassurance and peace of mind.
This Job Would Suit A proactive, motivated, and dedicated *female brain injury PA, with excellent experience and knowledge of brain injury. The two most important things for Sarah are that you love dogs, and art. These are non-negotiable—Sarah thrives when sharing these interests with her support team.
Why You’ll Love This Role This role offers continued professional development, excellent training, ongoing support and supervision, AND the opportunity to visit new and exciting countries. Sarah, however, will be the reason for applying for this role. She is a very special young woman. Sarah and her family are placing a huge amount of trust in you, so your commitment and loyalty are essential to help Sarah continue living her life in the way she chooses.
