Our client, a leading and fast-growing engineering group, is seeking an exceptional Survey Manager to take on a pivotal, group-wide leadership role as Engineering Survey Manager .

The Role

This is a senior, group-level appointment for an experienced surveying professional who wants to move beyond project delivery and into strategic leadership.
You will provide technical direction and governance across a multi-entity engineering business, ensuring structural and geospatial surveying services are delivered to a consistent, high standard. While operational teams sit within individual business units, you will oversee capability, performance, and best practice from a central position.
Working alongside executive leadership, you will ensure surveying expertise underpins operational performance, risk management, and future growth.
There is significant scope to develop the function further, including establishing a more centralised capability as the organisation continues to expand.
DUTIES
Provide strategic technical oversight across multiple business units

Develop and embed consistent standards, processes, and reporting frameworks
Act as the escalation point for complex or high-risk technical matters

Contribute to bid strategy and technical submissions for major opportunities

Identify service enhancements and additional revenue opportunities

Review utilisation, performance metrics, and commercial outputs

Conduct technical assurance reviews to maintain quality and compliance

Build strong working relationships with directors and senior operational leaders

Candidate

We are seeking a senior surveying professional who combines deep technical knowledge with commercial awareness and leadership credibility.
Chartered status with a recognised professional body such as IStructE, CICES, RICS or equivalent

Bridge inspection certification (or willingness to obtain shortly after appointment)

Extensive background in structural and/or geospatial surveying

Demonstrable experience leading established teams and improving technical performance

Strong understanding of relevant regulatory and industry frameworks, including RICS guidance, CDM, and HSE standards

Proven ability to implement and uphold technical standards

Experience supporting tenders or contributing to business development initiative
