Paid 10 week - Mandarin required - Sustainability Analyst

Benchmark Mineral Intelligence (Benchmark) is the world’s leading IOSCO-regulated price reporting agency (PRA), proprietary data provider, and market intelligence publisher for the lithium-ion battery to electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.

We have an opportunity for two Mandarin speaking interns from mid June to the end of August, based out of our London (near Monument) office.

The project involves updating our sustainability indexes for critical mineral producers. This involves going through the latest company sustainability reports and recording what metrics each company is reporting.

We are looking for candidates who are interested in the critical minerals space and battery supply chains, with a background in sustainability, geology, engineering or economics. Good analytical skills and comfortable using excel and powerpoint. Many of our sources are in Mandarin, so the requirement is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect sustainability reports, annual reports, and other public disclosures from companies in the critical minerals and battery supply chain sectors; Analyse corporate sustainability disclosures across environmental, social, and governance topics; Identify sector trends in sustainable development and hotspot cases; Support the preparation of research outputs and analytical summaries.

Requirements:

or professional fluency in both Chinese and English is required. Background in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Earth Sciences, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, International Development, or a related field; Experience in sustainability, ESG research, corporate disclosure analysis, or a related analytical role is ; Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and ISSB; Ability to work with large volumes of public information in a structured and detail-oriented manner; Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to work in our London office.
