Systems Engineer – Contract Role - Colchester


Location: Colchester (On-site, 5 days per week)

Duration: 12 months (with potential extension) - Outside IR35

Rate: Negotiable


We are currently seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our client on a 12-month contract based in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation projects in a hands-on, fully on-site role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to a high standard
  • Produce technical documentation including manuals, test procedures, and system specifications
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams, providing technical expertise and support
  • Contribute to the development of new products and system improvements
  • Follow and support project timelines set by the Systems Engineering Manager
  • Assist with troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning activities


Requirements

  • Strong experience with PLC programming
  • Proven expertise in SCADA systems and industrial automation
  • Solid understanding of control systems and electrical integration
  • Good HMI skills needed
  • Experience with CAD tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
