About the SEMH Teacher Role:
As an SEMH Teacher, you will lead classes with clear routines, targeted interventions, and a strong behaviour framework. You will deliver practical, structured teaching that builds resilience, discipline, and academic engagement in pupils who respond best to steady, authoritative instruction.
Key Responsibilities as SEMH Teacher:
Planned Instruction: Deliver structured, engaging lessons tailored to SEMH learners.
Classroom Command: Maintain consistent routines, firm expectations, and a controlled learning environment.
Behaviour & Regulation: Apply disciplined strategies that reinforce self-control, focus, and resilience.
Progress Monitoring: Track academic, behavioural, and emotional development with precision.
Professional Coordination: Work efficiently with teaching assistants, behaviour teams, leaders, and external professionals.To succeed as an SEMH Teacher, you will need:
Proven experience teaching SEMH, KS3, alternative provision, or similar structured settings
A strong classroom presence with clear, direct communication
Confidence managing challenging behaviour with consistency and authority
Solid decision-making skills and a proactive, independent approach
