We are working in partnership with Bishop Lonsdale Primary Academy to recruit a Level 3 or 5 Teaching Assistant Apprentice.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support educators and students within our educational setting. This role involves working closely with children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in supporting children's development and possess excellent communication skills to effectively engage with students, teachers, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lesson plans and classroom activities tailored to individual student needs
• Support students with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilities
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to help students improve their academic performance
• Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence among all pupils
• Help manage behaviour and promote positive social interactions within the classroom
• Support the organisation of learning materials and resources for lessons
• Monitor student progress and report observations to teaching staff
• Engage in training programmes to enhance skills related to special education and working with diverse learners
• Support pupils with SEN in the classroom and small groups.
• Help teachers deliver inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
• Promote inclusion and a supportive learning environment.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.

Requirements

• Prior experience working with children, particularly in educational or mentoring roles
• Knowledge of special education principles and strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities or autism
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents
• Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting student development
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Relevant qualifications or training related to teaching assistance or special education are desirable but not essential
• A genuine passion for fostering inclusive learning environments that support all learners' needs

Apprenticeship Details

• Hours: (8.15am-3.4500pm) / Term time only
• Duration: Approximately 18 months with EPA
• Salary: £8.00 per hour for the first 12 months (apprentice wage) and National Minimum Wage thereafter.
• Training Delivered By Best Practice Network no college attendance required; all learning completed online.
