About the Post:
Our four Assessment Teams are vital to the success of Barnsley's Children and Family Social Care, ensuring timely, high-quality support is delivered to children and families in need. As the Team Manager, you will oversee and support your team, ensuring they have the tools, guidance, and encouragement to deliver exceptional social work services.
You'll be working within a fast-paced environment, with tight deadlines, where the work is varied, rewarding, and driven by a strong passion for achieving positive and lasting change. We work with multi-agency partners to deliver the best outcomes for children and families in Barnsley, and our newly adopted Stronger Together practice model, underpinned by Signs of Safety, reflects our commitment to building a robust, relational, and effective team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a small team of Advanced Practitioners, Social Workers, and Newly Qualified Social Workers.
Provide regular reflective supervision, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
Drive best practice across the team to ensure high-quality, timely assessments and interventions.
Foster multi-agency collaboration to deliver effective support for children and families.
Ensure adherence to legislation, policies, and procedures, ensuring that the needs of vulnerable children are met.
Help embed the Stronger Together practice model within the team's approach to social work.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Qualified social worker with significant experience in statutory children's social work.
Experience in delivering reflective supervision and supporting the development of your team.
A commitment to supporting and developing teams, with experience of mentoring students, Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs), or colleagues.
Extensive experience in driving plans for vulnerable children and working in partnership with families and agencies to achieve positive change.
A deep understanding of social work legislation, policies, and procedures and the ability to apply them effectively in practice.

* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
* Social Work England Registration
* Driving license and access to own vehicle
