Fresh People are currently recruiting for a Technical Assistant on behalf of a well-established business operating within the UK fresh produce supply chain, based in Borough Green, Kent.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in technical administration, compliance, specifications or quality support within food or fresh produce, looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and collaborative supply chain environment.
Working closely with the Technical Director, the successful candidate will play an important role supporting supplier compliance, retailer technical platforms and customer quality processes, ensuring documentation and technical standards are maintained across the business.
The Role The Technical Assistant will support the day-to-day coordination of supplier compliance, retailer platform management and technical administration activities.
You will act as a key link between suppliers, packhouses, customers and internal teams, helping ensure product compliance and smooth technical operations across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities Manage supplier due diligence documentation across customer requirements

Monitor ethical compliance and labour standards across suppliers and packhouse operations

Track SEDEX compliance , follow up non-conformances and maintain accurate ethical records

Support packhouses during customer visits and audits where required

Coordinate and send supplier ethical and due diligence documentation requests

Maintain supplier and product information across retailer technical platforms

Manage FEX derogations, specifications and supplier links

Ensure all technical documentation is current and aligned with retailer requirements

Respond to customer rejections and investigate product quality complaints

Conduct root cause analysis and prepare structured responses

Monitor trends and ensure corrective actions are implemented with suppliers

Support fruit allocation planning where required

Liaise with Commercial and Operations teams to help balance supply and demand

Monitor performance metrics and provide updates to the Technical Director

Assist with training coordination and continuous improvement initiatives

Issue QC reports to suppliers where required

Skills & Experience Required Experience within fresh produce, food manufacturing or food supply chain environments

Experience supporting technical, quality or compliance teams

Knowledge of SEDEX, supplier due diligence or ethical compliance processes desirable

Familiarity with retailer technical platforms and specifications systems advantageous

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with suppliers and internal teams

Competent in Microsoft Office systems
