What you will be doing

You’ll typically work on a variety of projects, ranging from university campus work to high-rise residential towers, with a focus on enabling innovative architectural design without compromising fire safety. You’ll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and advising the design team on changes to increase building safety. You may be guided through a range of software packages, fire standards, team briefings, and client updates from the start. You will also contribute toward professional registration via IFE and other professional bodies.

What we will be looking for

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Extensive experience within the fire engineering consulting industry. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.

Qualifications and development

WSP offers a bespoke programme for fire engineers to develop professional skills and technical expertise, supported by senior leadership. The programme includes training in technical report writing, team-specific technical skills, project management (intro and advanced), influential communications, commercial concepts, collaborative team challenges, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate may progress toward chartered status or equivalent professional qualifications.
