Job Description
Technical Manager\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Technical Manager with a strong engineering bias to join a leading high-volume residential housebuilder. This is a leadership role with responsibility for the technical and engineering delivery of multiple large-scale developments, supported by two direct reports (Technical Coordinators). The position is well suited to a technically robust professional with a civil engineering mindset and a proven background in residential infrastructure.\n\nPosition: Technical Manager\n\nLocation: Wolverhampton\n\nSalary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum +car allowance + package\n\nContract Type: Permanent\n\nStart date: Immediately available\n\nAs a Technical Manager, you will take ownership of all engineering and technical aspects of allocated developments, from early land appraisal and planning support through to infrastructure delivery and site handover.
You will lead the technical function, manage consultant performance, and ensure engineering solutions are practical, compliant, and commercially efficient.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead the engineering-led technical delivery of high-volume residential schemes\nLine manage and develop two Technical Coordinators, providing clear technical direction and oversight\nTake ownership of infrastructure and engineering packages including roads and sewers (S38/S104), drainage strategies, earthworks, levels, and utilities\nManage and challenge external civil/structural engineers, architects, and statutory authorities\nProvide engineering input into land acquisition, planning, and viability assessments, including risk management and value engineering\nEnsure compliance with planning conditions, Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and local authority requirements\nOversee technical approvals, adoption agreements, and statutory submissions\nProactively identify and mitigate engineering and technical risk across developments\nAct as the senior engineering and technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders \n\nRequirements:\n\nSignificant experience in a Technical Manager role within a housebuilding environment\nStrong house building, civil engineering or infrastructure background, with hands-on experience in residential engineering design and delivery\nProven ability to lead and develop Technical Coordinators or junior technical staff\nCommercially aware, detail-focused, and delivery driven\nConfident managing multiple complex schemes concurrently \n\nQualifications:\n\nDegree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline ()\n\nHow to Apply:\n\nIf you are interested in working for this established company, please apply with your updated CV
