Role Overview

Our client is a leading electronics / HVAC supplier in the UK market. They are now looking to recruit a Technical Manager to join their team ASAP. This role is flexible and can be based in either Colchester or Bedford, and with additional arrangements to also work home 1 day per week. Your role will be to provide technical leadership within the procurement department and to focus on developing accurate product specifications, supporting sourcing activities, and ensuring that all products comply with relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Specification & Product Management

  • Develop and maintain technical product specifications for air conditioning and related HVAC equipment and provide technical guidance to the procurement and sourcing teams.
  • Ensure product specifications align with market requirements, customer expectations, and company standards and, review supplier technical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Regulatory Compliance & Procurement Support

  • Ensure all products meet applicable legislation, regulatory standards, and industry requirements (e.g., safety, environmental, and energy efficiency regulations).
  • Monitor changes in legislation affecting HVAC and refrigeration and work closely with the sourcing and procurement teams to evaluate new products and suppliers and assist in technical evaluation during supplier selection processes
  • Support negotiations with suppliers regarding product performance, specifications, and compliance requirements.

Quality Assurance, Skills & Competencies

  • Ensure technical consistency across all HVAC product documentation and marketing materials.
  • Support quality control processes to ensure supplied products meet specified standards..
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, performance data, and product documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ideally - A qualification / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Good experience in HVAC, air conditioning distribution, or a similar / related technical industry.
  • Experience working with product specifications, technical compliance, or procurement support.
