Technical Sales Engineer | Location: Field-Based (the North) | £45,00-£55,000 (negotiable)\n\nThe Opportunity\nA long-established, independent UK distributor and manufacturer of high-reliability electronic components is expanding its technical presence across the North. With over 50 years of heritage, the business combines specialist franchised distribution with UK-based manufacturing of film and mica capacitors. Their customers span military, aerospace, high-end industrial, test & measurement, rail, automotive, and semiconductor sectors.
This is an environment where technical credibility is valued and where you can build a long, stable career.\n\nThe Role\nAs a Technical Sales Engineer, you will manage and grow relationships across an established customer base while identifying new design‑in opportunities.\n\nThis position blends engineering understanding with commercial drive and suits:\n\nA Sales Engineer from a component distributor, OEM, or specialist manufacturer OR\nA technically strong engineer (component level) seeking a first step into a customer-facing commercial role\nYou will act as a trusted technical partner, helping customers define, specify, and select components across a broad product portfolio, supported by internal sales, product specialists, and engineering teams.\n\n Key Responsibilities\n\nManage and develop relationships across an established Northern customer base\nIdentify, qualify, and secure new design‑in opportunities\nProvide technical guidance on component selection, specifications, and trade‑offs\nCollaborate with internal technical, product, and sales teams to deliver customer solutions\nRepresent the business professionally across military, aerospace, industrial, rail, and related markets\nMaintain accurate activity reporting and contribute to sales forecasting\nUphold the company’s reputation for responsiveness, engineering knowledge, and long‑term partnership\nThe Essentials\n\nHard Skills\n\nStrong understanding of electronic components at the component level, ideally passive components (capacitors, resistors, electromechanical devices)\nAbility to discuss applications, specifications, and technical trade-offs with engineers\nIdeally 3+ years in a technical or engineering role\nSoft Skills\n\nExperience with supplier brands aligned to the company’s franchised lines\nBackground in component distribution, PEMCO, aerospace/defence, or industrial electronics\nCustomer‑facing experience beneficial but not essential\nAbility to work autonomously in a remote role\n Location & Working Pattern\n\nRemote working\nCovering the North: Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle and as far south as Stoke‑on‑Trent\nMonday to Friday\nPackage\n\nBase salary: £45,000 – £60,000 (flexibility for exceptional candidates)\nBonus up to 20% at 100% target, increasing in 10% increments for overperformance\nMileage allowance (pool car available during probation if required)\nOutstanding pension:\n\n8% company contribution, rising annually to 12%\n\nLaptop, phone, and business expenses covered\nSupportive, low‑hierarchy environment with excellent staff retention\n Closing date: 11/02/2025\n\n About Ford & Stanley Group\n\nFord & Stanley Talent Services Group are in the business of people and performance.
